First Draft of a Digipak Back Cover Design

This is my first mock up of a back cover design for my digipak, I like this because I used the idea of the playing cards pack which was my first inspiration and I believe it has worked well. I used 5 different images and here are the original pictures...

Inspiration For My Digipak Images

Because of the band being called 'Joker', I thought it would be a good idea to take individual pictures of the band and then place them as if it was a pack of playing cards like the image I have included below.
To do this I would choose some of the pictures I took when I went to the Jokers concert as these are bold images that would really stand out and work well for this design. I could also take a picture of a joker card from a playing cards pack and include that somewhere in the finished picture as this shows the bands name even though it is an actual playing card.

Another idea I had was to include one of my photo shoot images to be the front cover, I personally like this one if it was to be in black and white...
The inspiration for this photo came from looking at Coldplay's 2010 photo shoot were they are all sat down on a long sofa holding a guitar. For this image I made sure the guitars were in the background to show what the band was about and also I made them sit on the sofa however I just took the image from a different angle to make it appear quirky.

This was the image I found of Coldplay in which gave me the inspiration...

Feedback On My Draft Advertisements

These two adverts were the final ones I chose to decide between after looking at all my others I had produced. I asked four of my friends for some feedback on these to help me decide which one to choose as my final finished advert. Here are the responses I got...

After asking my friends, they all chose the picture I placed at the top of this post on the left, I think I also prefer this design as the picture is more eye catching and the design looks more simple rather than looking too busy.

More Draft Advertisements...

Second Draft of My Song Advertisement

For my second song advertisement I chose a different image and also a new font. I chose this image as I like the camera angle and also the guitars in the background, these can be seen as a symbol of the band therefore it looks good having them in their advertising poster. I chose to have one advert in black and white and the other in colour to try and compare the two of them, see which one looks better. In my opinion, I think the black and white draft looks a lot better than the colour as the font seems to stand out more and also seems to catch your eye rather than it blending in with the colour background. Comparing this draft to my first, things are still fairly similar for example the way I have placed the name of the band and also the name of the song, however I have moved the release date to the top of the advert and also 'new single' is placed in the top too to balance the advert out. At the bottom I wrote about what is included on the single to try and make the audience want to buy it and I also placed the bands address which promotes them.

First Draft of My Song Advertisement

I ended up choosing this image for my first mock up of an advertisement as I liked how I placed the members of the band and how casual it comes across to the audience; not forced just relaxed. I also ending up choosing this font as it looks quite 'rock' like and I like the cracks within the text, I think it makes it look more appealing and stand out more. I have made it look fairly plain however I think I like this as I never intended on the advertisement looking too busy as this will distract the audience's attention from what I am trying to get across to them, sometimes less is more. I added the 'pre order now' area at the bottom of the advert to make it seem more realistic and also the rating from NME, if an advert has a rating on this gives the audience a rough idea of how good the song/album is. I think in my next draft I may see what it would look like with a different image or a different layout of the text.
